I also have a passion for cooking. My mom and my grandmother have helped me develop that passion from an early age. When I headed off to college all the way across the country, I decided to live in a freshman dorm with a kitchen just so I could cook all of the time. It definitely helped me feel less homesick. When I was surrounded by unfamiliar people trying to live on my own for the first time, all I had to do was bake a batch of my mom's peanut butter chocolate chip cookies and all would be right with the world. Cooking and baking are some of my favorite pastimes, and over the years I have collected a lot of recipes, and I've recently developed a passion for adapting and improving the recipes in my collection.
In 2010, my roommates and I decided to decorate our condo to look like the Ravenclaw Common Room and host a Harry Potter themed Halloween party to celebrate the upcoming movie, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part One. I started looking for recipes immediately. I owned the Unofficial Harry Potter cookbook, but I was disappointed with the quality of the recipes it contained. When I searched for Harry Potter recipes on the internet, I had no idea if any of the recipes I was finding had even been tested, and that is a huge thing for me. I wished that there was one place that had everything, and it had all been tested beforehand. Then I thought, I could totally make this! I also had semester-long "Enjoyment of Writing" project due for my English class, so I decided to kill two birds with one stone and make this website.
Here you'll find the most popular Harry Potter recipes and also some other recipes that are not as well known, but every Harry Potter fan will enjoy. Along with the recipes, you'll find step-by-step pictures and "Tips from Hermione," which are some tips of my own creation that will help you when you try the recipe for yourself. I have also designed printable recipe cards to go with each recipe.
In addition to recipes, I have an Etsy shop called McGonagall's Office where you can purchase Harry Potter gifts for you and your loved ones. You will also find a collection of Harry Potter crafts, and party inspiration. Since that party in 2010 I have thrown a lot of Harry Potter themed parties, I even planned my own Harry Potter themed wedding!
So, from the House Elves in the Hogwarts Kitchens (I assure you that they are all paid), enjoy your Halloween feast, your Christmas feast, or whatever you are planning. An amazing Harry Potter themed meal is just a tickled pear away. And, as Albus Dumbledore would say, "Nitwit! Blubber! Oddment! Tweak!"
